Dr. Hung-Chun Chen is currently the Professor of Medicine in Kaohsiung Medical University, Taiwan. He used to be the president of Taiwan Society of Nephrology and chair of medical department in Kaohsiung Medical University Hospital.

For the past twenty years, he has pioneered and made great efforts and achievement in CKD education with outstanding implementation achievement for CKD prevention in Taiwan.  He is the Founding Director of Faculty of Renal Care, Kaohsiung Medical University, and continuously nurtures 50 CKD Educators each year from 2006-2020. Since initiation of the CKD program in 2009, he has trained more than 500 nephrologists from Asian countries for multidisciplinary CKD education strategies and programs. He has been involved in international nephrology promotion and academic programs as the Congress President of Asian Forum of CKD Initiative (AFCKDI) 2009; Congress President, 1st Triangular Chinese Nephrologist Forum 2009; Congress President, International Society for Hemodialysis (ISHD) Meeting 2012; Congress President, ISPD-Asia Pacific Chapter Meeting 2013: and Congress President, International Conference of Chinese Nephrologists 2017.

His pioneer work for CKD prevention and education has influenced Taiwan as well as Asian countries for CKD strategy and a model for global nephrology societies.
